Responsible Tourism

Keeping true to our pioneering spirit, Kulu Safaris has strived to be the most environmentally conscious safari operator in Sri Lanka.

No-plastic policy

Our ‘No Plastic’ policy saves approximately 6,000 plastic, single-use water bottles each year. We offer our guests unlimited, purified drinking water in reusable glass bottles, effectively stopping thousands of single-use plastic bottles from being released into the environment each year.

Powered by renewable energy

We generate most of our power from solar. Across the Haritha Collection of properties, we generate approximately 70% of our own energy.

Waste management

We have deployed a fully organic waste management system to turn our organic matter into usable fertilizer out in our gardens. We proactively separate our waste and send all non-organic waste to recycling plants.

Conscious construction

We always remained conscious of the footprint we create and our campsites are created in a manner that will allow us to return it back to the jungle and it’s rightful inhabitants - the animals – leaving behind nothing but our footprints, and taking with us priceless memories of encounters with its wildlife.
